SV Baseball vs Greene County
7/1 Greene County 6-4 W (9-10)
Senior Night at Jaguar Field saw the home crowd give their respect to our six seniors. Tyler Jondle, Gauge Jones, Caden Kaltschnee, Lenix Allbee, Brady Hanson and Cale Vansickle were all honored before the game. The seniors moms would throw out the first pitches followed by the senior dads who all threw heaters right into their son’s gloves. The Jags got to work in the second inning getting four runs to take the early lead. The Rams would strike back in the top of the third with two of their runs. The game would stay that way for a few innings before the Jags would score two more runs to take a comfortable lead but the Rams would score two more runs in the seventh inning. The game was getting tight as the Rams would load the bases and Kolton Ollinger would come in with two outs after Cale Vansickle would retire those hitters. The Jags needed a big play with the Rams one big hit away from tying the game or even taking the lead. With Ollinger on the mound, Kolton would get two strikes before the ninth batter would fly out to Colin Johnson in left field ending the game and securing the win for the Jags. A dramatic game for sure but in the end the Jags would come up with clutch plays. Senior Tyler Jondle continues his terrific senior campaign going 2 for 3. Mason Bahr came up with a clutch hit scoring two runs in the Jags four run second inning. Brady Hanson added a hit which scored a runner as the Jags continued to get a big hit with runners in scoring position. Logan Jaeschke would have the big hit of the night getting two RBI’s with two outs in the sixth inning essentially getting two huge runs which was the difference in the game. Logan replaced Caden Kaltschnee who started the game in right field on Senior night. Cale Vansickle had a big night getting on base twice while coming in to pitch after starter Karson Roper reached his pitch count. Cale threw strikes and had some big pitches. Karson would strike out seven batters in his four innings of work while Vansickle would strike out three batters. A nice win on senior night is always great and the Jags honored the seniors with a win. Tyler, Caden, Brady, Cale and Lenix all had good games and senior Gauge Jones unfortunately out due to injury was a great teammate cheering and supporting his fellow teammates from the bench. Not the position he would prefer to be at for senior night but his attitude and support of his teammates should be mentioned and applauded.
JV Action: 11-2 W
The JV team would start the night off with a nice win. Dawson Tuel had himself a day going 3 for 4 with a double while scoring three runners on the night. Colin Johnson would also have himself a day going 2 for 4 with a double and matching Dawson’s three RBI’s on the day one of which would be a sac fly. Evan Bintz added a hit as did Kolton Ollinger who hit the ball hard every at bat but only had a double to show for it. Spencer Peterson had a killer afternoon going 2 for 2 with a single and a double while scoring three times. Conner Rentz was not to be left behind though maybe topping everyone going 3 for 3 with three singles and scoring, you guessed it three times. Caden Cramer would walk twice, scoring once. A nice night for the bats as there were plenty of great hits and plenty of scoring. Casey Hanson would pitch getting some practice on the mound ending his inning of pitching a groundball to Dawson Tuel who would make the nice play. Landon Vote would pitch the second and third innings working efficiently getting ground balls and retiring all six batters he faced. Dawson would pitch the fourth inning allowing a few baserunners but ending the threat with two strikeouts. Altogether the pitching staff allowed two runs striking out four batters. The JV pitching squad has done a good job all year and continues to impress!
