Baseball 5/23 vs. South Central Calhoun 13-9 L (0-1)
The Jaguars took on conference foe South Central Calhoun in a non conference match
up last Thursday. The first game of the season for the Jaguars was a tight one. The game
went into extra innings with the Titans coming up with four runs in the 9 th to secure the win. The Jags playing their first game of the season while Titans were on their fourth and it showed as the Jags had a few defensive miscues which allowed the Titans in the game and have the chance to win it in extra innings. The jags had a huge second inning scoring six runs which put them in the drivers seat. The pitching staff got out of a few jams coming up with big pitches. Cale VanSickle started on the mound for the Jags. Throwing 3 and 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two earned runs. Senior Kaden Holder would throw two innings before Hane Sorenson and Gauge Jones. Altogether the Jags gave up six earned runs and ten hits on the game. Hits for the Jags included Hane Sorenson, Tyler Jondle and Caden Kaltschnee who had a huge single to score two runners at the time. The Jags had a total of 16 walks on the night showing good plate discipline but missed some opportunities to score their teammates when they reached third. A tough game to lose in extra innings but the Jags showed some promise.
The Jags were rained out the next night as well as Tuesday night giving them the only game of the week. That will change as the Jags will have four games next week three of them home games.
JV ACTION: 3-3 T (0-1-0)
The Jag JV squad ended in a tie for their first game of the season. Colin Johnson scored in the first inning off a Karson Roper flyout to center. Jaxson Meyer and Colin would both finish with the two hits in the game with Kayden Showers and Kolton Ollinger coming up with big hits in the fourth and final inning which Kayden’s was a huge one scoring Ollinger with a full count Kayden hit a shot over the centerfielders head scoring Ollinger. On the mound the Jaguars threw a slew of throwers. Lenix Allbee, Ryan Stewart, Jaxson Meyer and Karson Roper all had their first outings as Jaguars.
