6/29 @ Emmetsburg 14-16 L (5-16)

It was a game of runs for the Jags and the E-Hawks on a makeup conference game.

The Jags traveled once again to Emmetsburg to take on the E-Hawks after the original date was rained out. The Jags would surrender five runs in the first inning off some walks and hit balls. Not to give up the Jags would come back with nine runs in the second inning to take the lead. Emmetsburg would go on to score five runs in the next two innings to take the lead back and keep it. The Jaguars offense would score a few more to make it interesting but just wasn’t enough as the EHawks took the conference match up. The offense played the part of a team hitting their stride at the end of the year as they combined for ten hits on the night. The middle of the lineup did the damage with Tyler Jondle, Drew Corell and Casey Hanson all went 2 for 5 with Drew recording the only double among the three. Drew would finish with four RBI’s on the night and hit the ball hard every time with two reached by an error. Altogether the Jags would get fourteen RBI’s with Brady Hanson and Justin Loseke getting two runners in with their lone hit on the night. Junior Hane Sorenson would also have two RBI’s and finished 2 for 3 with a walk, a nice night for Hane and the rest of the Jaguar bats. Unfortunately the defense was lacking on the night. Four errors allowed bigger plays for the E-Hawks and adding seven walks didn’t help the defensive effort. Kaden Holder and Ryan Stewart shared pitching duties and both did their best but it wasn’t enough in the end to pull out a victory. The Jags now head to tournament play tomorrow night at 5 in Garner as they start district play against Clarion Goldfield.

JV ACTION: 0-10 L (10-8-3)

The Jags JV squad was hoping to end the season on a bright note but the EHawks were

a bit too much for them in the end. On a hot day the Jags sent out Lenix Allbee on the mound to finish up his pitching season. Lenix would throw decent but a few walks and hit by pitches would allow the Ehawks to score. Nick Field would relieve Lenix in the last inning. Struggling early Nick would eventually get the E-Hawks down in order to end the half inning. Jaguars with hits included Bryson Axness, Lenix Allbee, and Caden Kaltschnee ended his season on a red hot hit streak going two for two. Not the way the JV squad wanted to end things but Senior Gavin Weier and Elias Field had emotional fare well messages for their teammates. It was a solid year for the JV team members with a lot of upside and positive things to build off of.
