SV Baseball @ Manson Northwest Webster
6/6 Manson NW Webster W 8-3 (3-4) (1-1 conference)
The Jaguar baseball team finished the week with a trip to Manson and a huge conference win against rival Cougars from Manson Northeast Webster. The Jags got on the board in the first inning but the Cougars would claw back to take the lead in the third off senior pitcher Gauge Jones. Jones would continue to pitch well though as he would blank the Cougars the rest of the way making some big pitches getting out of innings. Casey Hanson would relieve Jones in the seventh after reaching his pitch count limit in the contest. Casey would allow two baserunning but Gauge Jones would catch two pop flies and Casey would get a groundball back to himself for the final out of the game. The bats did just enough taking advantage of some pass balls and errors. Tyler Jondle would score twice after hitting the ball hard and getting an RBI on the hard hit. Gauge Jones also helped his cause with two scores, two walks and a single in the fifth inning which was a huge inning for the Jags who would score three runs taking the lead and never looking back. The fifth inning was kicked off by Colin Johnson making his first start at the varsity level and getting a single. Mason Bahr would further spark the fires getting a huge double scoring Johnson. The Jags would score again in the sixth inning. Lead off by Lenix Allbee eventually scoring. Mason Bahr once again would come through with a big hit and courtesy runner Kolton Ollinger would score on a passed ball. The final run of the game came in the last inning with a walk for Gauge Jones and a huge sac fly would score Jones. A nice win for the Jags ending their second week of the season.
JV 11-4 W (5-2)
After a tough loss to Humboldt the JV team hit back on track with a decisive 11-4 win. The Jags scored eleven runs so only three innings of baseball was played also with 13 walks in the contest it was a slow moving game. Carver Peterson started on the mound and threw two dominating innings of baseball. Striking out three and only allowing one baserunning. Caden Milham would throw the third inning and struggled a bit with control allowing some walks but overcame that and struck out two batters in his inning of work. While there were a lot of walks the Jags did have some hits. Evan Bintz would have a single which scored a runner. Landon Vote would also score a runner with his infield single. Not the prettiest or quickest game but the JV team added their fifth win of the season.
