SV Baseball vs Pocahontas Area at Principal Park
6/16 Pocahontas @ Principal Park 2-6 L (6-8) (2-4)
It was a hot sunny day as the Jaguar baseball team traveled to Des Moines and Principal Park to take on the Indians from Pocahontas. The field was pristine and the best ball park in the state didn't disappoint. The Jags sent out a slew of pitchers starting with Ryan Stewart who threw admirably but with pitch count rising and walks mounting Jags went to Karson Roper who finished the fourth giving the ball to Lenix Allbee, Kolton Ollinger would finish the sixth inning getting out of a bases loaded jam. Senior Caden Kaltschnee wrapped up the seventh inning throwing really well getting to pitch in his last chance to do so. The Jags just couldn't get walks under control allowing every run but two coming from a walk. The Jags offense scored in the second inning after a wonderful squeeze bunt from Cale Vansickle with Logan Jaeschke on third. Well executed play to tie up the game at the time. Jags got things going in the fifth inning with Dawson Tuel getting a hit and Casey Hanson singling right after. A walk by Karson Roper loaded the bases but the Jags couldn't get a big hit to make it interesting with Dawson scoring but no one else. The Jags had chances to get runners in but couldn't get the big hit when they needed it. In the end it wasn't enough with the Indians taking the win but what an experience playing in an AAA minor league field. Thanks to all the fans who came out to support the Jags!
