JVR Baseball Year End Report 2022

The JVR squad for the Southeast Valley baseball team made great improvements as the season went on. The team started the season at Sioux Central where they played a close game but dropped the contest with a score of 3-5. Next the Jags played a very tough team from Humboldt. The Jags dropped both games in the double-header to make their record 0-3. After playing the Wildcats, the team took a trip up to Alta-Aurelia to take on the Warriors. The Jags fought hard in both games of the double-header, but unfortunately lost both games by one run. Then Roland Story came to town where the Jags played a great game and picked up their first win of the season with a score of 6-4. The Warriors from Alta-Aurelia were the next ones up for the team. Unfortunately, the Warriors had the Jags numbers once again, and the Jags dropped the 3rd game of the series between the two. The young Jags ended the season on a great note by winning a thriller of a game at Roland Story. The Jags came from behind down 9-12 in the last inning to win the last game of the season 14-12. The young JVR team showed fight in every single game and improved every step of the way. At the end of the season the players voted on team awards that are given to the best player in each category. Tyler Jondle earned the awards for MVP (Most Valuable Player) and Gold Glove. Gauge Jones earned the award for Cy Young. Cale Vansickle earned the Charlie Hustle Award. Dreyvon Steadmon earned the award for most improved.
