5/31 Sioux Central 7-2 L ( 1-3) (conference 0-1)

The Jaguar Baseball team faced off against the Rebels from Sioux Central for their first

conference game of the season. The Jaguars were competing with conference foe with Junior Hane Sorenson throwing on the mound for the Jags. Hane threw really well through five innings and got the team two outs in the sixth before the Rebels would go on to score the go ahead run in the 6 th inning off Drew Corell replacing Hane once he reached his pitch count. Hane was stellar on the mound. Going 5 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts and not giving up a hit! All runs were scored on walks, errors or passed balls. The Junior threw well enough to win but reaching pitch count was the downfall. Drew Corell and Carl Berglund were both in relief but with three runs in the seventh for the Rebels was too much to overcome for the Jags. The bats did a decent job on the night facing the Rebels top pitcher. Brady Hanson was lead the Jags with two hits in three appearances at the plate. Brady scored on a well placed bunt by senior Justin Loseke in the third inning which at the time was the go ahead score. The third inning was also the inning Logan Jaeschke recorded his first varsity home run with a towering shot off the Rebels senior ace. It was a huge hit for the 8 th grade varsity starter and hopefully many more to come from him. Much of the night the bats were quiet for the Jags as they only mustered those two runs in the third inning.

JV ACTION: 2-2 T (1-2-1)

With a cancelled JVR game earlier in the day, the Jaguars relied heavily on freshmen

pitching. The Jags threw freshmen Ryan Stewart, Lincoln Akins, and Ethan Tucker on the

mound for the JV squad. All three threw remarkably well in early season work. It was the last

inning which saw the opponents scoring two runs to tie it up and the Jag offense couldn’t get

any runs to end the game in a tie. Kole Sorenson continues to hit the baseball with an RBI

single which scored the first run. Freshmen Colin Johnson continues to hit the ball as well

getting a base hit and eventually scoring in the third inning when Caden Kaltschnee beat out a play at first which scored Johnson. JV continues to improve and play hard.
