6/28 @ Greene County 6-3 W (8-10)

The Jaguars came away with a huge win yesterday at Jefferson taking on the Rams

from Greene County. Kolson Kruse took the mound for the Jaguars and threw four great

innings of baseball. In his four innings Kolson gave up three hits, while striking out five batters.

The best stat the coaches like to see is Kolson gave up no walks. Fellow senior Colby Russell came in the 5 th inning and closed out the game. Pitching and keeping the Rams off balance,Colby let his defense help him and they did just that allowing four hits and the Jag defense had a couple of errors but none were costly as they closed out a tough contest with a huge non-conference win. Pitcher Kolson Kruse had himself a day at the plate as well as he went 3-3 all singles while also walking once. Caden Larson had a hit along with some hard hit balls at short which he capitalized on by getting on twice. Caden’s lone single also drove in a run. The Jaguars exploded with a five run inning in the 3 rd and never looked back. Colby Russell hit a questionable infield fly which landed but allowed Kolson to score. Justin Loseke came up big with an RBI single followed by Brady Hanson who did the same. Justin hit the ball hard all night as well as Brady, who added one more hit a stand up double. Zack Miller rounded out the hitting for the Jags having a huge triple in the second inning but sadly was stranded at third with already having two outs. A decent display of offense for the Jags and decent defense to boot saw them pick up their 8th win of the season.

JV ACTION: 6-6 T (4-11-3)

The Jag JV squad fought and clawed their way to a 6-6 T to end the game. It was a

rocky start for the Jags giving up four straight walks but third baseman Lenix Allbee caught a

liner to double up a guy at third which helped the cause. Pitcher Carl Berglund settled in after that strikeout a batter to end the first then threw well the rest of the way. It was still looking bleak though for the Jaguars down six runs but Freshmen Caden Kaltschnee came in to pitch and gave the Jaguars a breath of fresh air, keeping the Rams bats off balance and throwing strikes. Caden didn’t give up a run getting groundballs and strikeouts. The bats came alive in the 5th inning, as Ethan Ackerson started off the rally with a double, followed by base hits from Bryson Axness and Gavin Weier. Gavin’s hit would score Ethan from third. A another base hit from Tyler Jondle followed by a huge two out triple off the bat of Cale Van Sickle which scored Tyler. The triple was a smash hit that allowed Cale to reach third safely. Other hits outside the 5th inning included Ethan Ackerson once again as he continues to be red hot. Kaden Holder had one hit finishing with two on the day. Bryson Axness and Tyler Jondle would do the same both going 2 for 3 on the day. What a comeback from the Jaguar JV squad even though it was a tie the Jags showed a lot of heart in the comeback.
