BASEBALL WRAPS UP SEASON
The Southeast Valley 2025 baseball had their end of season awards banquet last Wednesday. The Jaguars voted for team awards and Tyler Jondle got the big one. Varsity Most Valuable player with an average of .455 the highest in Jaguar Baseball history just edging out Kolson Kruse who hit .448 in the 2021 season. Tyler also had the most singles in a season with 29 beating the old record set by Jaxon Meyers in 2017. Tyler wasn’t the only player to break some records. Mason Bahr set the record for most runners thrown out with eleven runners thrown out. He tied the record with Clayton Taylor who did it in the first season as a Jaguar Baseball program. Karson Roper would also throw two no hitters on the season. Unfortunately in one of those games he would run out of pitches and not secure the win and in the other versus GTRA the ten run rule would only give the Jags six innings. Roper would no- hit two teams through the sixth inning. Roper would also have the record of the least number of hits given up (minimum 30 innings pitched) with only 20 runs given up. No surprise his teammates selected him as the best pitcher at Varsity level with the Cy Young award.
The rest of the team awards were handed out at the banquet. Mason Bahr and Logan Jaeschke tied for Charlie Hustle award given to the guys who hustle the most on the field. Ryan Stewart would win Most Improved for his improvement in his pitching this year while Casey Hanson would win the Gold Glove award for the best fielder this season for the Jags. Casey’s play at first base was huge for the Jags this year and this makes two years in a row Casey has won Gold Glove award.
The JV had the same awards and Ayden Bintz won the Charlie Hustle award, a very deserving person to win the award with Ayden always hustling and helping out around the diamond. Landon Vote was selected Cy Young for the JV’s best pitcher during the season. Fellow freshmen Dawson Tuel would receive the Gold Glove Award being the best defender at the JV level. Dawson was a steady player at third for the JV and Varsity squads making the majority of plays his way. Most improved award went to Carver Peterson who had a great year hitting and fielding as a freshman. The last award went to Colin Johnson who led off the JV team and was on base constantly which helped the JV team go 11-3 this past season. Colin was the team’s Most Valuable player for the 2025 season.
The team would wrap out the season with coaches going to nominate them for conference and district awards. Tyler Jondle was honored with the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Second Team. Tyler was awarded his position of second base. A tough award to get since most teams don’t see Jags play. Tyler had first team stats but still landed on the second team for his outstanding season.
The Twin Lakes Conference meeting was next with a tough conference and only counting conference stats makes it a bit different than the IHSBCA award voting. The Jags who were 4-6 in conference got five players recognized at the All Conference meeting. It was tough first team contests but the Jags killed it with second team nominations. Karson Roper was selected as a second team pitcher. Mason Bahr would be next with getting second team catcher. Followed up by Tyler Jondle getting second team infield. Jags would continue to get guys on with Logan Jaeschke being selected second team outfield. With four guys on the second team the Jags would get one more Casey Hanson being selected Twin Lakes Conference Honorable Mention.
