Jag Baseball 6-5 Emmetsburg 1-3 L (2-5) (conference 2-2)
The mid week conference opponent was the E-Hawks from Emmetsburg. The E Hawks
have taken some good teams to the limits and are a good team for the Jags to face off against to test their improved play. Lenix Allbee took the mound for the Jags. The junior hurler showcased his improvement with his best performance of his career. Lenix, who had previously struggled with control, showed how much he has been working on his craft but going five innings with no earned runs, two hits with only four walks and striking out nine batters. A great game from Lenix was just what the Jags needed in this huge conference game. Lenix was relieved by Jaxon Meyer. The freshmen pitcher threw honorably in relief in a tough spot. In the seventh inning is when the action came with three runs by the E Hawks and the Jags fought back to score a run off the bat of senior Kaden Holder. The Jags had runners in scoring position on second and third but could not get the big hit after the E Hawks went to their ace late in the game to secure the win on a well fought game. The Jag bats were hitting but unfortunately just at their opponents. Kaden Holder had two hits and one in the seventh to score a runner which was huge at the time. Mason Bahr and Hane Sorenson finished out the hits getting singles. A well played game but just a bit better by the E-Hawks on the night.
JV action 3-9 L (4-2-1)
The JV squad had a set back last night against the E- Hawks last night to give them their
second loss of the season. Defense had a few let downs which ended up giving Emmetsburg the lead they needed with five runs in the second inning after the Jags could have been out of the inning preventing the damage. Karson Roper started on the mound but with pitch count came into play Caden Kaltschnee took over and finished the game. Both pitchers threw well just didn’t have the plays when they needed them. The Jag bats were uncharacteristically quiet all night with three hits from Kolton Ollinger, Jaxon Meyers and Lincoln Akin, Evan Bintz and Colin Johnson would score the two runs for the JV team.
JVR Action 11-4 W (2-0)
The freshmen duo of Ayden and Evan Bintz showed up on the mound for the JVR team.
Both Bintz’s threw well giving up three runs and letting their defense help them. The bats were alive as well. Kolton Ollinger continued to stay hot with two singles. Evan Bintz added a hit and a run. Karson Roper and Nick Field would add singles while Jaxon Meyer would add a single and bit hit which landed him on second. Colin Johnson rounded out the hits with a single driving in a runner and a double to finish the hits on the day. A good win to start the day for the Jag
baseball team.
