6/28 Greene County 2-11 L (5-14)

The Jags hosted the Rams from Greene County for their second game in a busy final week of the regular season. The Rams wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with two runs in the first. The Jags would answer with one run of their own but it was a seven run third inning which hurt the Jags the most. The Jags would score one more run in the sixth after senior Gavin Weier roped a single down the third baseline. Elias Field would come in barely miss a single which looked fair but the umpire called it foul. Elias eventually was hit by a pitch moving Gavin to second. Fellow senior Ethan Ackerson would then single loading the bases and Tyler Jondle would hit into a fielder’s choice with an out at home. With two outs, Casey Hanson would then single sending Elias Field home. On the night Brady Hanson had a double which started the Jags first inning. Drew Corell would add one hit, scoring Hanson from third after Justin Loseke grounded out. Logan Jaeschke rounded out the hitting for the Jags with a single of his own. Pitching was a combo of Jags. Hane Sorenson started the game and gave up nine runs but only three of those were earned. Hane was making them hit the ball the Jag defense wasn’t having their best game though. Impressively Hane only gave up one walk a good sign for him. Drew Corell would replace Hane and the senior threw pretty well after not throwing for a period of time do to arm soreness. Cale Vansickle would finish the last inning of pitching for the Jags looking impressive with one strikeout. Altogether the Jag pitchers only gave up three earned runs, a stat that makes you wonder what if…

JV ACTION: 0-5 L (9-7-3)

Runners left on base were the story for the JV team as they fell to the Rams. The JV jags would leave eight runners left on base in four innings of ball. Caden Kaltschnee took the mound and all runs were given on errors or walks. For the most part the defense was good but a few errors led to bigger things and wasn’t enough in the end. Bryson Axness and Dalton Crouse had the lone hits on the night for the Jags as a few errors and walks allowed runners on base but the Jags couldn’t capitalize.
