6/20 Newell Fonda 5-7 L (5-8) (4-4 conference)

The Jaguars fought until the end but the Mustangs took home the win after too many Jag errors plagued them once again. In a game where the Jags had their shots to take the lead it was Newell Fonda who prevailed in those situations and in the game. The Jags had multiple players getting one hit. Hane Sorenson, Caden Larson, Colby Russell, Brady Hanson and Kolson Kruse all earned a hit on the night. Kolson and Colby Russell both drove in runs. The Jags had runners in scoring positions multiple times but just couldn’t get the big hit. On the defensive side the Jags had five costly errors which for the most part ended up in Newell Fonda scoring on them. Kolson Kruse took the mound and only allowed three earned runs while Colby Russell and Hane Sorenson both came in relief and threw well keeping the Mustang bats off balance for the rest of the night. The Jags had bases loaded in the 6th down by two before Newell brought in their closer and shut the door on the Jags hopes of coming back in the game. Jaguars have two more conference games on the schedule as they play GTRA and South Central Calhoun yet this week. It was a special night for the Senior Jag players anyhow as they the fans, coaches, players celebrated their senior seasons. Caden Larson, Lucas Jondle, Zack Miller, Kolson Kruse, and Colby Russell all took part in the before game celebration. Along with their parents, who tossed out the first pitches of the game. Thank you to our seniors, you will be missed and we appreciate your efforts through the past four seasons!

JV ACTION: 0-4 L (2-9-2)

Playing a very good JV squad, the Jags keep playing better baseball but wasn’t enough for a win. Cale Van Sickle and Gavin Weier ended up having the only hits on the day for the Jags as they faced really good pitching. Kaden Holder continued to be the work horse for the JV pitching staff. Only allowing one hit, a double which scored a runner. That batter would eventually scoring on an error. No earned runs throughout for Kaden which is a solid outing. Gauge Jones came in the final inning and continued his good pitching performances, recording three outs on three batters. Jones continues to improve each game and looks to be a bright spot in the Jags future rotation.
