Jags Lose Close One to Pocahontas

6/13 @ Pocahontas 0-3 L (4-7)(3-3 conference)

It was a defensive battle for the Jaguars as they took on Pocahontas Indians in a close ball game. Indians sent their ace to pitch against the Jags and Hane Sorenson took the mound for the Jags. Hane threw really well keeping Pocahontas off balance all night. He only made a pitching mistake and left a 0-2 pitch hittable and the Indian player did just that scoring two runs off the hit. Other than that Hane threw remarkably well giving no walks with with seven strikeouts. Hitting for the Jags last night was tough to come by with good pitching but Indians had big hits and the Jags just couldn’t get the big one. The Jags threatened to score in the 5th inning when Drew Corell hit a double, followed by Colby Russell also getting a double. A Zack Miller walk gave the Jags bases loaded with no outs and threatening to score. How lady luck was not on the Jags side this night as Brady Hanson hit a small pop fly right at second base which the shortstop being in perfect position caught stepping on second base getting the double play. A play which stopped all the momentum the Jags had built up. Big hits for the Indians and bad luck for the Jags was all it was. The other hit on the night came from Senior Caden Larson in the last inning before the Indians retired the next three batters.

JV ACTION: 4-4 T (0-7-2)

The Jaguars JV squad has been playing better as of late. It wasn’t enough to gain the win but some plays here or there they would have gotten into the win column. Kaden Holder threw really well only giving up four hits on the night which came later in the game.  Gauge Jones threw one inning of relief.  At the bat for the Jags was Ethan Ackerson getting two huge triples and one single to boot. Other Jags getting hits included Maverick Dorman, Kole Sorenson who got two RBI’s on the hit.
