7/9 DISTRICT @ OABCIG 9-10 L (9-14)
A nail biter game between the Jags and the number one seed Falcons of OABCIG went
to the final pitch and the final out. With two outs, a bases clearing double was enough to steal the win from the Falcons and ended the Jags season in heartbreak. The Jags had a two run lead; with bases loaded but couldn't get the third out to secure the win. The Jags were actually down two runs in the bottom of the seventh and keep playing hard. With back to back singles by Brady Hanson and Logan Jaescke and back to back walks. The Jags were in business. Colin Johnson would score on a pass ball moving Cale Vansickle to third. A huge squeeze bunt would score Vansickle off the bat of Casey Hanson. A beautiful squeeze bunt allowed Casey to reach first while a sac fly from Tyler Jondle would score Karson Roper to give the Jags the two run lead going into the seventh. Even though the game ended in the wrong way, the Jaguars showed a lot of guts to comeback. The Jags pitcher Gauge Jones threw a good game but fatigue would bring in freshmen Karson Roper to finish the game. Errors were gut punches for the Jaguars as they allowed the Falcons to stay within reach. The things that plagued the Jags all year will hopefully change for next year as the Jags have a lot of key pieces coming back and will look to do some damage in the coming years. The baseball program says goodbye to lone senior Hane Sorenson. Hane has been a great leader for this young squad and has played his heart out all season. Hane would finish 2-5 on the night with a double and three RBI’s. Hane definitely left it all on the field for his final game of the season. Leadoff Casey Hanson would finish 3-5 with a double and the great squeeze bunt. Tyler Jondle scored a runner with his sac fly. Gauge Jones and Mason Bahr would finish with a hit each. Brady Hanson continued to stay hot with a double and a single going 2-3. Logan Jaeschke would also do the same double and single and scoring a runner. Karson Roper would finish with two hits to round out the impressive hitting night for the Jags who out hit the Falcons on the night. Shame we couldn't see what they could accomplish as the bats are really coming on as of late. The future is bright for sure with lots of positive momentum for the Jaguar Baseball program. Thanks for all the
support from loyal Jaguar baseball fans it has been a fun season with a lot of positives.
