JV Softball Week of June 27

We started off the week at home vs Pocahontas Area. We started the week strong on defense, but couldn't stop Pocahontas' hot bats. On offense, we put the ball in play but could not get the ball through their defense. Lauren Eslick scored after reaching on a walk and stealing all the way around. Jags lost, 1-5.

On Tuesday, we traveled to Jefferson to play Greene County. Jags were disciplined in the box on offense and drew 12 walks in 4 innings. Paige Holmes came up big in the 4th inning, hitting a massive double that scored Brooke Peterson, Laila Johnson, and Lauren Johnson. On defense, we stayed sharp allowing no runs until the 3rd inning - where they scored 1. In the 4th, Greene County scored 5, but the Jaguars still came out on top. Jags win, 9-6.

On Wednesday, the Jags traveled to Manson NW. In the first inning, the Jags started off hot on offense - scoring 4. Paige Holmes continued to lead the team throughout the night at-bat, with 2 singles and one double. On defense, Rian Schlief started out hot getting 3 strikeouts in the first inning and letting no one score. Lauren Johnson came up big in the 5th inning with one assist for an out at first and then catching a pop fly. Jaguars win, 9-2.

On Friday, we played our last JV game of the season against Saydel. Lauren Eslick got us started off with a single in the first inning and would eventually score on a pass ball to score our only run of the night. Saydel had hot bats and strong pitching throughout the season. Jaguars lost, 1-12.

I am super proud of the growth we made this season. I’m already excited for the off-season to get us ready for next summer. Go Jags!
