The Jaguar softball team traveled to Lytton on Friday night for a conference match-up with the Titans of SCC. After playing three complete innings, it would be Southeast Valley who came away victorious by a score of 19-3 and with that win the Jaguars are now 14-5 on the season and 7-3 in the Twin Lakes conference.
It was a fantastic night at the plate for the Jags, seeing all nine batters reach base as well as score at least one time. In the first inning the, Jags would take the lead 2-0 over the Titans. It would sophomore Camryn Lane and junior Chloe Lambert to cross home plate off of a base hit single from sophomore Rian Schlief. The Titans would take a short ownership over the lead after the bottom half of the third innings, but Southeast Valley had an answer for them, scoring six runs to regain the lead. Junior Lauren Eslick lead the inning off with a walk and steal, landing her on second. Eslick would be moved to third on a single hit off the bat of senior Leilah Olson. With Eslick at third and Olson standing on second after the steal, sophomore Riley Carlson would bring Eslick home and advance Olson to third. Camryn Lane and Chloe Lambert would each record their second hits of the night with a single and a double respectively as well as one RBI each. Jordyn Rowly would hit a long sacrifice fly to plate Lane right before senior Alex Kitchen singled to the left side, bringing in two runs herself.
The Jags would only add to their lead in the third scoring 11 runs, six of those being scored with two outs. The inning was started by Riley Carlson smoking a shot up the middle at the Titan pitcher landing her safely on first. Senior Ellie Nolte would take first on the “hit by pitch” giving the Jags two base runners to start. Camryn Lane, Chloe Lambert, and Jordyn Rowley would each single and score a run before Rian Schlief reached base for the third time on her second walk of the evening. Eslick, Olson, Nolte, and Lane would all reach base either by base on balls or hit by pitch setting up Chloe Lambert and Jordyn Rowley for the line drive singles to score two runs each. Rian Schlief would be the last Jaguar to record a hit in the top of the third and the Jags would go up 19-3.
Rian Schlief got the start for the Jags, but it would be Chloe Lambert who got the win in the circle. Lambert faced nine batters, fanning three and walking none while the defense behind her played clean and executed the rest of the outs needed to secure the victory for Southeast Valley.
