SV JV Softball - 6/5-6/9

On Monday, we faced West Bend-Mallard. We started off strong on defense holding them to no runs until the 3rd inning. On offense, we hit the ball extremely well - hitting 8 singles, 1 double by Brooke Peterson, and 1 triple by Anna Corell. We capitalized on the Wolverines errors and scored 11 runs. On defense, we looked sharp all around and had a great night making routine plays. Jags won, 11-5.

On Wednesday, we traveled to Emmetsburg. Our offensive leaders of the night were Brooke Peterson with 2 RBIs and Laila Christopherson and Riley Carlson with both 1 RBI each. On defense, the EHawks hit the ball hard and in gaps, scoring runs each inning. Jags fall short 6-7.

On Thursday, we traveled to Clarion to play the Cowgirls. Right away, our bags were hot scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Once again, Brooke Peterson had a heck of a night - hitting 2 hard hit balls causing errors by the Cowgirls. Really great base running allowed her to score both times in her at bat (an “in the park home run” x2). On defense, our pitchers threw a heck of a game! In 2 innings, Rian Schlief had 5 strikeouts in only 8 batters. Taylor Kauffman also had 5 strikeouts on the night and played defense really well on the mound. Jags win, 14-6.

Rounding off the week, on Friday, we traveled to Alta. We played a really great game all around and ended up tied - 5-5 when we reached the time limit. Everyone on defense looked really good - only having 2 errors. Once again, we capitalized on the Warriors errors with really great base running.

Our bats are getting hot and our defense is sharpening up their skills. Our base running is improving tremendously and has allowed us to take advantage of when teams make small errors. It was a great week of JV Jaguar softball!
