Bob Morgan Softball Classic.

The Southeast Valley softball team now holds a record of 1 win and 4 losses after traveling to Ogden for the annual Bob Morgan Softball Classic. 


The Jaguars started their day against the Lynx from Webster City. Junior Maddie Vansickle got the start in the circle and dominated, facing 21 batters and allowing just four hits and striking out four.In the batter’s box, the Jaguars struggled against the Webster City pitching staff. Junior Maddie Vansickle led the offense with two hits: one double and one single, scoring Nolte. Sophomore Jordyn Rowley added one hit to the teams’ total for the contest. The Lynx would capitalize on Southeast Valley miscues and win the game by a score of 2-7.


After facing Webster City, the Jags would be the home team against Des Moines Christian. Freshman Chloe Lambert led the defensive efforts in the circle facing 21 batters, striking out four and allowing only three hits. Southeast Valley was in the driver’s seat for much of the game scoring four runs in the first inning and being solid on defense. Sophomore Jordyn Rowley and junior Maddie Vansickle led the offense. Vansickle contributed two doubles while Rowley had a double and a single. Despite solid efforts on both sides of the ball, the Jaguar softball team dropped its fourth game to the Lions from Des Moines Christian by a score of 5-7. 


In their third and final contest of the day, Southeast Valley competed with tournament host, the Ogden Bulldogs. The Jags picked up their first win of the season in four innings. Sophomore, Ellie Nolte, got the start for the Jags and threw all four innings. Nolte faced nine batters and she struck out two and the defense behind her did the rest of the work making routine plays and executing where it was needed. Offensively, showed better discipline at the plate, combining for a team total of 11 walks and five hits. Junior Maddie Vansickle led the offensive charge with a walk of her own, a double, and a triple.Sophomores Ellie Nolte, Jordyn Rowley, Alex Kitchen, and Leilah Olson each contributed a single to the team’s efforts. The Jaguars took W in this contest by a score of 17-0 in three innings.
