6/13 Softball @ Eagle Grove

Southeast Valley softball was back on the road Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup against the Eagles from Eagle Grove. The Jags walked away with a win, outscoring the competition 10-5.

The Jags would quickly score in the first inning capitalizing on Eagle defensive errors. Kenna Scott and Ellie Nolte would reach base as a result of a defensive mistake as well as a walk. After a couple of stolen bases, the two would both cross home on a hit off of Jordyn Rowley’s bat which was fumbled by the Eagles. The Jags would go scoreless in the second, third, and fourth innings as the Jags struggled to stay in their zone and find pitches to drive, however, in the fifth inning, Lauren Eslick would walk, steal second and two missed throws, reach home for the Jags’s third run in the game.

The Eagles would put up a fight and take the lead from the Jags after scoring one run in the second through fifth innings. The Jaguar defense would have struggles of their own, allowing the Eagles the opportunity to capitalize and plate five runs.

Finally in the sixth and seventh innings, the Jags would score four runs. Chloe Lambert, Rian Schlief, Kenna Scott, Ellie Nolte, and Leilah Olson all singled in the sixth. Olson’s single would bring Lambert and Schlief in to score while Nolte would plate Olson from third and Scott from second.

Lambert would start the party again in the seventh inning. The score board lit up with one out and one ball, one strike count when Lambert launched a solo shot over the left field wall. Rian Schlief hit a single following the blast from Chloe and after a stolen base, came home on a double hit to the left-center gap by junior Alex Kitchen. Junior second baseman Leilah O/lson kept things rolling for the Jags at the plate and moving Kitchen over to third. Kitchen would eventually score on a wild pitch. Anna Corell came in to run for Olson and after stealing second, Corell would score the final run for the Jags in the seventh on a hit by Lauren Eslick.

The Jags turn around and travel again on Wednesday June 14th for a conference matchup with the Raiders from East Sac Country.

The Jags are currently 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the Twin Lakes conference.
