Jags Defeat MNW in Five

Southeast Valley softball ended their busy week on a high note beating the Cougars from Manson-Northwest Webster 11-1 in five innings.

The Jag started hot from the beginning behind the arm of freshman pitcher Chloe Lambert with three up and three down and they would carry that momentum with them to the plate. Ellie Nolte got things started with a single up the middle. She would reach second on a steal and be driven in by Jordyn Rowley’s single to the left-center gap.

The offense would continue to impress in the second inning. Lambert got the inning started with a walk and fellow freshman Anna Correll would come in to run for her. Sophomore Leilah Olson found her groove at the plate moving Correll to second. Freshman Lauren Eslick would step into the box and lay down a sac bunt. Eslick would score Correll from second, move Olson to third and reach second herself on a defensive error made by the cougars. Ellie Nolte stepped up to the plate and hit a line drive double, scoring both Olson and Eslick. Kenna Scott would continue her hitting streak for the week hitting a single on the left side followed by another single off the bat of sophomore catcher, Jordyn Rowley, scoring both Nolte and Scott.

In the third, Olson and Eslick would reach base. Olson would score on another single off Rowley’s bat. Eslick and Rowley would both score on a double ripped up the middle by junior Maddie Vansickle. The fourth inning would be quiet for the Jags, but the top of the lineup stepped up in the fifth to push the final two runs across to help the Jags complete the run rule victory. Ellie Nolte stepped up the plate and hit a single to the hot corner and scored after stealing second when Kenna Scott hit a double of her own down the left field line.

Manson would score in the second with a run of their own after a defensive miscue by the Jags, but the girls cleaned it up and were flawless through the final three innings of the game combined with a solid night at the plate for the entire line up.

Ellie Nolte went 2-3 with a single and double and two RBI’s.

Kenna Scott was 1-3 with a double and two RBI’s.

Jordyn Rowley was 3-4 with three singles and two RBI’s.

Maddie Vansickle was 2-4 with a double and three RBI’s.

Leilah Olson was 3-3 with three singles.

Lauren Eslick was 2-3 with one RBI.

Chloe Lambert was the winning pitcher facing 18 batters and striking out seven.

Southeast Valley softball now holds a record of three wins and six losses overall and a record of 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference.
