Jags Take Down Emmetsburg

June 8, 2022

Southeast Valley softball hosted the E-Hawks from Emmetsburg on Wednesday night in Harcourt for a JV and Varsity contest.

The Jaguars blanked Emmetsburg by a score of 12-0 in three innings to bring their overall record to four wins and six losses on the season. The Jaguars are undefeated in Twin Lakes conference play.

Junior pitcher Maddie Vansickle started in the circle and put on a clinic! She faced 10 batters and retired nine, allowing one single in the second inning. The Jaguar defense showed up and showed out behind Vansickle executing 11 of the 12 outs to perfection. Vansickle earned herself one K on the night.

In the box, the Jaguar bats were hot all night! In the first innings, with two outs on the board sophomore catcher Jordyn Rowley ripped a double to the left-center gap and would score on yet another monster of a homerun, to centerfield off the bat of Maddie Vansickle. In the third, Chloe Lambert, Leilah Olson, and Lauren Eslick would each reach base. Sophomore Ellie Nolte would step into the box and laser a double up the middle to score Lambert and Olson. Eslick would be caught in a run down and later thrown out, but not before the Jaguars would plate two more off the bat of Rowley who would hit another double to score Nolte from second and fellow sophomore Kenna Scott from first after she reached base on a walk.

In the third and final inning of the game, the Jaguars would bat through the line up one more time and score six runs to end the contest by run-rule. Sophomore center fielder Alex Kitchen got the part at the plate started with a single to the middle followed by Lambert who would single herself. Leilah Olson would reach first and score Kitchen and Lambert. Freshman Lauren Eslick would reach first after laying down a two strike bunt to the third side putting runners on first and second. Ellie Nolte and Kenna Scott each reached base on singles, bringing Jordyn Rowley back to the plate. Rowley would cap her huge night at the plate with a bases clearing triple to the left-center gap.
