Jags Drop Home Opener

The Jaguar softball team dropped their home opener to the Wildcats from West Central Valley by a score of 3-5 in a varsity only contest. The Jags fought for seven innings, but timely hits for the opponent and errors by the defense would be their achilles heel.

On the dirt, Southeast Valley rallied behind freshman pitcher, Chloe Lambert. Lambert came in in the fourth and threw four complete innings facing 16 and striking out four and not giving up any runs. Junior Maddie Vansickle got the start in the circle and three three complete.

In the batters box, the Jaguar bats started hot in the first inning leading off with a single by sophomore Ellie Nolte followed by a monster hit easily clearing the left center fence off the bat of junior Maddie Vansickle. Nolte would reach and score again in the fifth inning as a result of an RBI from Vansickle. The excitement stopped there for the Jaguars as the offense could not get rolling after the fifth.

The Southeast Valley softball team will travel to Ogden on Saturday, May 28th to compete in the Bob Morgan Softball Classic against Webster City, Des Moines Christian, and Ogden starting at 10:45.

The Jags are 0-2 on the season.
