Jags Third at Own Invitational

Gowrie, IA ~ The Southeast Valley junior varsity squad went 4-1 at their own invitational and ended up third overall in an eight team invitational. The team went 3-0 in pool play defeating Carroll by the scores of 21-7 and 21-14. They also tallied wins against Eagle Grove 21-7 and 21-12 and Pocahontas Area 21-13 and 21-15. In the championship flight they lost to South Central Calhoun by the scores of 19-21, 21-11, and 5-15. In the consolation round they defeated Carroll again by the scores of 21-18 and 21-7. For the day the girls served over 94% and had over 4.7 ace serves per game. They also averaged 8.5 assists and 9.2 kills per game. 


JV goes 2-1-1 at a Triangular Conference Competition.

Lake View, IA ~ Following a long day on Saturday, September 16th hosting their invitational, the girls traveled to Lake View to take on four other conference JV teams. They defeated West Bend-Mallard 21-11 and 21-9. They then played the E-Hawks of Emmetsburg and defeated them by 21-9 and 21-10. In the third match they split with East Sac County 21-18 and 15-21. They ended up losing to the Titans of SCC by the scores of 15-21 and 19-21. The team served over 92% and averaged 3.0 aces serves per game. They also average 8.2 assists and 9.0 kills per game. For the night, Maddie Farley, sophomore, led the team with 27 kills. Sophomore Riley Carlson followed with 12 kills. Others with kills for the night were Mila Johnson had three, Jondyl Warland had two, Liz Thompson had three. Freshman Kayla Field had five while the other freshman Liberty Suchan had two.  


The junior varsity squad defeated the Panthers of Storm Lake by the scores of 25-12 and 25-14 on Tuesday, September 19th. The team served over 95% and played very well as a team. 


The junior varsity in the past four days went 7-2-1 with matches.   


Varsity Wins the Three


Storm Lake, IA ~ The Lady Jaguars took care of the Panthers of Storm Lake St. Mary’s in quick fashion Tuesday night by the scores of 25-6, 25-8, and 25-9. The team served at 89.7% and averaged 5.6 ace serves per match. Ellie Nolte and Breck Mills were 100% with their serving. Alex Kitchen and Rian Schlief had five ace serves followed by Addi Hindt having four.


Defensively, Rian Schlief and Addit Hindt had eight saves each. Kitchen had four saves while Nolte had three. To earn a save, a member has to dig up an attack from the opposing team and then the offense has to have a kill from that save. Breck Mills had three solo blocks while Kitchen and Hindt had an assist block.  


With offense, it was one of the best performances of the season. The girls had an efficiency rating of .344 for the night. Leading the team with kills was Alex Kitchen with ten followed by Addi Hindt with nine. Others having kills were Breck Mills had five, Paige Weiland with four, Schlief had two and Nolte, Scott, and Brunner having one each. Kenna Scott had 15 assists while Ellie Nolte had 14.  


The team stands at 7-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
