Jags Struggle during Week Four
Gowrie, IA ~ The Jaguar varsity volleyball squad against the E-Hawks of
Emmetsburg and Manson NW Webster Cougars on Tuesday, September 13 th . The
team opened the triangular with a loss to Emmetsburg by the scores of 22-25, 16-
25, and 17-25. The girls then played The Cougars and loss by the scores of 13-25,
17-25, 25-18, and 9-25. In both matches of the night, the girls struggled with
different aspects of the game. Against the E-Hawks the girls served at a season
low of 80% serving efficiency. The girls averaged 4.7 kills per game compared to
Emmetsburg 10.3. The girls also averaged 4.7 digs per game compared to the E-
Hawks 8.0. Maddie VanSickle was perfect behind the serving line and had seven
assists. Ellie Nolte served at 93% with two ace serves. Breck Mills had two solo
blocks while Paige Weiland and Addi HIndt each had a block. The team was led by
Alex Kitchen and Addie Hindt with four kills each. Madison Lane and Alex Kitchen
each had three saves (digs) each.
In the last match of the night, the Jags lost to the Cougars of Manson NW Webster
by the scores of 13-25, 17-25, 25-18, and 9-25. The team served at 87.7%
efficiency with Maddie VanSickle and Ellie Nolte perfect behind the serving line.
The team averaged 6.5 kills per set. Leading the team with kills was Alex Kitchen
with eight. Addi Hindt had seven kills while Maddie VanSickle had five. Breck
Mills had two solo blocks and Kitchen, Weiland, and Hindt each had one solo and
one assist blocks. The team average 7.8 saves per game with Ellie Nolte having
eight and Madison Lane have seven. With setting, Maddie VanSickle had thirteen
assists while Rian Schlief had nine. The girls finish week four 2-9 overall. They will
face St. Mary’s of Storm Lake on Tuesday, September20th at home.
