10th Rated Cubs Too Much for Jaguars

Nevada, IA ~ The Nevada Cubs (22-13) handled the Jaguars(11-18) in opening Regional play on Monday, October 17 th in Nevada. They defeated the Jaguars by the scores of 9-25, 16-25, and 11-25. Nevada moves on and will host OABCIG on Wednesday, October 19 th in Nevada. The other side of the bracket has #6 Unity Christian (Orange City – 21-9) and Cherokee Washington (25-11).


The team served at 93.9% with Ellie Nolte, Rian Schlief, and Madison Lane perfect behind the serving line. Lauren Johnson had the only ace serve. Lane led the team with seven saves while Kenna Scott had six. The team had a total of 25 saves averaging 8.3 per game/set.


It was difficult during the match to set up the offense since the back row struggled with serve receive. The team only passed the ball 50% effective during the match. If the passes are not on target, it is hard for the setter to set up the hitters to have an impact offensively.

Offensively, Addi Hindt led the team with seven kills and two assist blocks. Alex Kitchen had four kills with two assist blocks. Breck Mills had three kills and two assist blocks. Ellie Nolte and Madison Lane had two kills each while Nolte also had two assist blocks. Ava Brunner had one kill.


The team finishes the season 11-19 overall. Madison Lane and Madelyn VanSickle (injured) ended the season as co-captains and participated in the sports all fours years in high school.
