Jags Compete Against Rebels
Gowrie, IA ~ The Jaguars played conference matches on Thursday, September 12th at home against the Rebels of Sioux Central.
The opening match was the junior varsity reserve squad who lost to the Rebels by the scores of 10-21 and 14-21. The team runs a 6-2 offense with Sage Lane and Reagan Pearson as the setters. Middle hitters are Dani Bethel and Leah Mills. Outside hitters are Sage Lane, Reagan Pearson, Ruby Stimpson, Shayden Hefley, and Jacey Carlson. Playing in the back row were Emily Wilson, Addison Lundquist, and Peyton Lockner. The young squad travels to Emmetsburg on Monday, September 16th for a quadrangular with Emmetsburg, Newell-Fonda, and East Sac County.
JV Defeats Rebels.
The junior varsity moved to 7-1-1 overall defeating the Rebels by the scores of 21-18 and 21-11. Kalli Thompson led the team with serving and ace serves. Thompson and Liberty Suchan were the setters for the squad. Playing as middle hitters were Trinity Anderson, Leah MIlls, and Reagan Pearson. Outside hitters were Kayla Field, Liberty Suchan, Mae Searcy, and Addison Larson. The libero for the team is Mylee Swanson. Avrie Hanson subs in for Trinity Anderson in the back row. Other team members are Sage Lane (setter), Dani Bethel(middle hitter), and Ruby Stimpson (outside hitter).
Varsity Defeats Rebels in Three.
The Jaguars came out strong and defeated the Rebels in three straight sets by the scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-11. This was one of the better matches the girls played this season. Even though the team served at 85%, they still ended up with 18 ace serves. Annabelle MacRunnel led the team with serving at 100% and she tallied 9 ace serves. Rian Schlief had 4 ace serves while Lizzie Thompson had two and Camryn Lane had one.
The team had a season high hitting/kill efficiency of .356 with Madelyn Farley leading the way with 12 kills, four per game. Rian Schlief had eight and Riley Carlson had seven. Anna Corell had ten saves followed by Liz Thompson having six.
The team moves to 3-6 overall.
