Varsity Opens 2022 Season with a Victory

Eagle Grove, IA ~ The Jaguars opened up the season with winning five games over the Eagles of Eagle Grove on Tuesday, August 24th. They won by the scores of 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 28-30, 15-11. 

The team served at 85.2% efficiency with seven ace serves. Leading the team with serving at 95% efficiency or higher were Ellie Nolte, Madison Lane, and Maddie VanSickle. Nolte had three ace serves while Addi Hindt and Lauren Johnson recorded two each.

The team averaged 8.8 assists per game. An assist is recorded when an attack (spike) is a kill. Ellie Nolte averaged 4.6 assists per game while Kenna Scott had 1.6 per game.

Leading the way with offense was Addi Hindt who had 15 kills and an efficiency rating of .453, meaning almost one-half of her attempts were kills. Alex Kitchen had 12 kills, Breck Mills had 10, and Paige Weiland had 8, Ava Brunner and Ellie Nolte each had seven. The hitters did a nice job with kills, but their efficiency needs to improve. The teams overall attack efficiency was 16%. 

Lauren Johnson led the way digs with nineteen. A dig is recorded when a ball is brought up from the opponents attack and the team is able to play it.

Players suiting varsity on opening night were: Ava Brunner, Addi Hindt, Lauren Johnson, Alex Kitchen, Madison Lane, Breck Mills, Ellie Nolte, Kenna Scott, Maddie VanSickle, and Paige Weiland. Managers are Sophia Gutshall and Laila Johnson.
