Greene County Captures Jaguar JV Invitational

Gowrie, IA ~ The annual JV Invitational was held in Gowrie with eight teams competing. In pool A, Eagle Grove placed first while Southeast Valley was second. In pool B, Greene County was first while South Central Calhoun finished second.


The Jaguars opened the day losing to Eagle Grove by the scores of 17-21 and 11-21. The team bounced back and defeated Ogden by the scores of 21-16 and 21-18. In the third match of the morning, the ladies split with Pocahontas Area 21-6 and 19-21.  


The team consisted of setters sophomore Kalli Thompson and freshman Sage Lane. Playing in the middle hitting positions were sophomore Trinity Andersona and freshman Leah Mills.the team’s libero was sophomore Mylee Swanson and the team’s other backrow specialist is sophomore Avrie Hanson. Outside hitters were sophomores Mae Searcy, Kayla Field, Addison Larson and freshman Reagan Pearson. Coach Kehoe was proud of the effort of the young team compared to many other teams having juniors on their squads.


Pool A’s final placing was Eagle Grove first, Southeast Valley, PAC and Ogden. In Pool B, Greene County was first followed by South Central Calhoun, East Sac County then Carroll.


In the championship flight, the Jaguars lost to Greene County by the scores of 14-21 and 19-21. They then lost to Eagle Grove in three sets by the scores of 21-15, 19-21, 15-17. Eagle Grove finished third overall while the Jaguars finished fourth in the eighth team invitational.


The Greene County Rams defeated SCC in two sets to capture first place while SCC was runner-up.
