Mustangs too Much for Jaguars

Gowrie, IA ~ The Newell Fonda Mustangs defeated the Jaguars at home on Thursday, August 31st in three games by the scores of 15-5, 21-5, and 18-25. The girls had a difficult time getting their offense rolling again against a scrappy Mustang team. Rian Schlief and Breck Mills were perfect behind the serving line. Ellie Nolte missed one serve but had two aces. Kenna Scott also missed one serve and had one ace. The team served at 93% efficiency. Schlief did a great job with passing over 60% of the serves that Newell-Fonda served at the Jaguars. However, the rest of the team struggled with passing the ball with efficiency factors below 50%.  


Addi Hindt led the team with 9 kills at .29%. Ellie Nolte and Alex Kitchen followed with six kills with Nolte at .115 efficiency rating while Kitchen was at .25. Paige Weiland ended up with two kills and Ava Brunner and Maddie Farley had one each. Kenna Scott had eleven assists and Nolte had nine.  


Schlief led the team with six digs. Breck Mills and Addi Hindt each had a solo block. Mills and Kitchen had one assist with blocking too. The team is currently 3-5 overall and 0-2 in conference.


JV Wins

The junior varsity team won in three games by the scores of 21-13, 13-21, 15-5. The team played very well in passing the ball and setting up their offense. Riley Carlson led the team with nine kills while Maddie Farley had five. Mila Johnson and Abby Halligan each had three kills while Lizzie Thompson had two. Farley had four assists and one solo block. Others having assists were Carlson, Thompson, and Halligan.


The girls served over 98% with eight ace serves. Anna Corell led the team with three ace serves while Riley Carlson had two. Those who were perfect behind the serving line were Jondyl Warland, Riley Carlson, Camryn Lane, Maddie Farley and Anna Corell.
