Jags Split in Conference Triangular

Gowrie, IA ~ The varsity team split on Thursday, September 21st at home with Pocahontas Area record being 13-8 overall and 3-2 conference and South Central Calhoun 22-10 and 4-1 coming to town. Southeast Valley entering the night was 7-5 overall and 3-2 with conference play.  


The girls lost the first match of the night to Pocahontas in five sets 25-22, 28-26, 16-25, 20-25 and 13-15). The team served at 93.9% efficiency with seniors Ellie Nolte at 100% with 19 and Alex Kitchen being perfect with 13. Kitchen had three ace serves while Nolte had two. Others with ace serves were Kenna Scott and Rian Schlief each having three aces and Addi Hindt with two and Maddie Farley with one.


The girls were .220 efficient with their kills. Leading the team with kills against the Indians was Breck Mills having 10. Addi Hindt and Alex Kitchen followed with nine each. Farley and Ava Brunner had one. Mills had an efficiency rating of .389 while Hindt followed with .350. The team had a total of 30 kills and Nolte and Scott led the team with assists with 15 and 12, respectively.  


Alex Kitchen led the team with three blocks followed by Scott with two and Hindt and Brunner having one each. Rian Schlief led the team with 17 saves while Hindt had nine, Scott had seven, and Nolte had five. The team had a total of 47 saves against PAC.  


Jags Come back to Defeat The Titans


In an exciting last match of the night, the girls were down two games and came back to defeat the Titans of South Central 29-31, 10-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-13. The team served at 94.4% only missing four serves in the five games, which was one key in winning. They also had six blocks, 41 kills, and 56 saves.


Erica Burger, Ellie Nolte, and Rian Schlief were perfect behind the serving line. Nolte had five ace serves while Hindt, Scott, Farley, and Schlief recorded one each. Offensively the girls were .125 with their attacks. Leading the way for the Jags was Alex Kitchen with 11 kills. Addi Hindt followed with nine and Breck Mills had eight. Kenna Scott ended up with seven kills, Nolte had four and Schlief and Weiland tallied one each.  


Defensively, Rian Schlief lit up the court with 25 saves. Scott followed with nine, Burger had five, Hindt three, Anna Corell three, Farley had four, Nolte three, and Alex Kitchen had four. Breck Mills had four blocks while Addi Hindt had two.  


The varsity squad travels to Bishop Garrigan on Saturday, September 23rd.
