Clean Sweep Over the Wolverines
Gowrie, IA ~ The Jaguar Volleyball program won all of the their matches on Thursday, October 10th over the Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard
The JVR won by the scores of 21-11 and 21-17. The JV lost the first game by the score of 19-21 but turned things around and won the next two by the scores of 21-11 and 15-12.
Leading the JVR with ace serves was Dani Bethel with 4. Reagan Pearson had two.
JV leaders for the night were Liberty Suchan with 2 ace serves and 4 kills.
Also, helping the night both offensively and defensively for the Jaguars were Shayden Hefley, Peyton Lockner, Sage Lane, Leah Mills, Jacey Carlson, Addison Lundquist, Ruby Stimpson, Emily Wilson, Leslie Hemmestad, Kallie Thompson, Kayla Field, Trinity Anderson, Mae Searcy, Mylee Swanson, Addie Larson, and Averie Hanson.
SENIOR NIGHT
Three seniors were recognized Thursday for their four years participation in the volleyball program. Anna Corell, the daughter of David and Jennifer Corell, Mila Johnson the daughter of Cheryl Schneider and Kyle Johnson, and Annabelle MacRunnel the daughter of Tanya Hanson and Ryan Fawcett
Annabelle MacRunnel also was recognized for her Academic All-State Award with a certificate from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for maintaining a GPA above 3.75 and being in the top 10% of her class.
The team started the match a little sluggish and lost the first set 18-25. However, they regrouped and ended up winning the next three by the scores of 25-19, 25-9, 25-15.
The team almost had a .25 hitting efficiency for the night which means that every four hits one was a kill. Leading the way with kills for the night was Madelyn Farley with 12. Rian Schlief was right behind her with 11. Mila Johnson and LIzzie Thompson each had eight kills. Liberty Suchan had five while Riley Carlson had two. Camryn Lane had 19 assists while Rian Schlief had 12. Riley Carlson led the team with 3 solo blocks followed by Lizzie Thompson and Liberty Suchan each having one.
The team had 29 digs for the night with Annabelle MacRunnel having six, followed by Anna Corell, Madelyn Farley, and Rian Schlief each having five.
The team only served at 86.7% efficiency, however they had 12 ace serves which averaged out three aces per game. Lizzie Thompson and Rian Schlief each had four ace serves while Camryn Lane had two and Madelyn Farley and Annabelle MacRunnel had one each.
The team improves to 9-14 and 4-6 in the conference. The team will finish the regular season on Thursday, October 17th at Graettinger (GTRA). The freshmen players will be participating in a tournament on Monday, October 14th at Sioux Central.
