Humboldt Track Results

    With the number of meets canceled early in the track season, the Jaguars boys’ track team got into a rescheduled Humboldt meet on Thursday, April 21st.  The boys finished 4th overall in the meet with 79 points.  Humbodlt won with 152 points and Pocahontas Area was 2nd with 126 points.

    The Jaguars were led by two first place finishes.  Tre Fisher won the long jump with a season best jump of 21’ 1” with teammate Kolson Kruse 2nd with a jump of 20’ 8.5”.  Both Fisher and Kruse teamed up with Carl Bergland and Kaleb Scott to not only win the 4 x 100m relay in a time of 44.55 but broke the school record in the process.

    The Jaguars also got a third place finish from the 4 x 800m relay team of Cooper Nuss, Asa Haub, Zach Thompson, and Oscar Hanson who ran a season best of 8:59.60.  Also finishing third place was Aaron Graves in the shot put with a throw of 47’ 7”.

    Justin Loseke threw a career best in the discus of 147’ 1”, just missing the school record to finish 4th.  Also using a season best to finish 4th was Andrew Miller in the high jump, jumping 5’ 6”.  Jace Hanson (400m, 56.95) and Ty Klatt (110m, 17.82) ran season bests to finish 5th and 7th respectively in their events.

    The meet also had a separate JV class where the Southeast Valley really had a good night.  The JV team finished 3rd overall in the JV class with 110 points.  Humboldt won the class with 151 points and Clear Lake was 2nd with 118 points.

    Carson Joyce was an individual winner in the 400m dash running 1:00.35, he also finished 2nd in the 400m hurdles (1:10.24).  Other second place finishes were Owen Steck (HJ, 5’ 0”) and Isaiah Ihrig (800m, 2:30.68).

    Two relays also claimed silver medals.  The shuttle hurdle team of Jacob Snyder, Carson Joyce, Ben Thompson and Isaiah Ihrig ran 1:20.35 and the 4 x 400m relay of Justin Loseke, Isaiah Ihrig, Grant Farnham and Ross Larson ran 4:09.42.

    Justin Loseke and Nate Scott picked up a pair of bronze medals in the throwing events.  Justin threw 39’ 8” in the shot put, while Nate threw 112’ in the discus.  Ross Larson claimed 3rd place honors in the 400m low hurdles running 1:10.91 while Ben Thompson took 3rd in the 400m dash running 1:04.32.  

    The sprint medley team of Jace Nelson, Dreyvon Steadman, Cale VanSickle and Owen Steck took third in the sprint medley relay (1:50.58) and the 4 x 100m relay team of Jace Nelson, Dreyvon Steadman, Ty Klatt and Michael Eslick finished third in a time of 50.24.

    Evan Zeka (33’ 3”), Ethan Peed (31’ 9”) and Aden Jepsen (28’ 0) all threw PRs in the shot put and Peed also improved his best discus throw of the year with a throw of 91’ 6”.  

    The Jaguars are close to finishing their season.  They will run at Lake City on Friday, April 29th, 2022 before heading to Manson on Tuesday, May 3rd to compete in the Twin Lakes Conference.
