'23 SV Boys Invite

The Southeast Valley boys’ track & field team hosted their own annual Southeast Valley Boys Invitational meet on Tuesday, April 11th in Gowrie. In the larger school class A division, the Jaguars varsity team fell short of winning the meet, finishing 2nd place overall. Their score of 116 points was 20 less than class 3A Webster City who was the meet champion. Roland Story was 3rd with 87 points and Ogden 4tgh with 79 points.

The Jaguars were led by a tri of 1st place finishes. Cooper Nuss won the 3200m run in a time of 11:06.1 while Jace Hanson took gold in the 400m low hurdles in a time of 1:00.86. Jace also anchored the 4 x 200m relay to out lean Webster City at the finish line to take 1st place in a time of 1:37.18. His teammates in the 4x2 were Dreyvon Steadman, Kayden Showers, and Carl Berglund.  

Justin Loseke claimed a pair of 2nd place finishes in the shot put and discus throwing a season best of 47’ 3.5” in the shot put and 147’ in the discus. Oscar Hanson took silver in the 3200m running 11:18.65 while Jace Hanson took 2nd place in the long jump with a season best jump of 19’ 3.25”. Cooper Nuss took 2nd place in the 1600m run with a time of 4:58.42.

Ethan Ackerson took 3rd place in the shot put (46’ 10”) while finishing 6th place in the discus (123-05)” Eli Johnson was a three time individual place winner taking 3rd in the long jump (18’ 11.5”) and 200m (24.86) and 5th in the 400m dash (56.63). Isaiah Ihrig took 3rd place in the 400m low hurdles (1:05.64) and Andrew Miller took 4th place in the 200m dash (25.28).  

Several relays also placed for the Jaguars. The 4 x 100m relay was 3rd in 46.31, 1600m medley relay was 5th in 4:32.09 as well as the shuttle hurdle in 1:19.12.

Southeast Valley also had their JV competing in the smaller school class B division against five other varsity teams and two other JV teams. The Jaguars finished 4th behind 3 of those varsity teams scoring 57 points. Madrid won class B with 238 points, followed by WBM (63pts) and Glidden Ralston (62pts).

Leading the JV team was a pair of 1st place finishes by Nate Scott in the shot put (39’ 5”) and discus (114’ 8”) Carl Berglund took 2nd in the 100m dash running 12.34 and the 4 x 100m relay quartet of Jace Nelson, Brady Hanson, Andrew Miller and Kayden Showers went 47.69 to take 3rd.

Oliver Riehl, Allan Summers, Caden Kaltschnee and Grant Farnham took 4th in the 4 x 800m relay (11:00.14) and Brady Hanson took 4th in the long jump (17’ 5.25”). Lincoln Akins and Logan Bintz took 5th and 6th respectively in the 1600m run and Preston Kennedy took 6th in the 200m dash. The 1600m medley relay and the 4 x 400m JV relays also took 6th.

The Jaguars will compete this week on Monday in their own Coed Relays before heading to Newell Fonda on Friday, April 21st.
