'23 - East Sac Relays - Boys

The Jaguar boys track & field team competed in their final tune-up before their state qualifying meet on Monday, May 8th in Sac City. The Jaguars for the fifth time were runner-up finishers as a team; this time missing first place by a single point. Ridgeview came out on top after the 4 x 400m relay with 128 points, while host East Sac County was a distant 3rd with 81 points.

The Jaguars strong team standing was the result of six first place finishes in the meet. Individual gold was won by Justin Loseke in the (discus, 163’ 4”), Oscar Hanson (3200m run, 10:58.19), and Andrew Miller (200m, 24.32). Three relays also crossed the finish line 1st on Monday night.  

The distance medley team of Brady Hanson, Andrew Miller, Isaiah Ihrig and Cooper Nuss crossed the line in 3:58.40. The quartet of Dreyvon Steadman, Carl Berglund, Eli Johnson, and Jace Hanson claimed first in both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays. The 4x100m relay team ran 45.57 and the 4x200m relay team ran 1:35.60.  

Justin Loseke was the lone silver medalist finishing 2nd in the shot put, throwing 48’ 1.5”. The Jaguars picked up eight third place finishes overall. Eli Johnson took 3rd in the long jump (19’ 4”), Kayden Showers in the 200m dash (24.82), Jace Hanson in the 400m low hurdles (59.95) and Oscar Hanson in the 1600m run (5:06.70).  

Relays taking the bronze medals for the Jaguars were the sprint medley relay (1:41.48), shuttle hurdle relay (1:16.52) and the 4 x 400m relay (3:52.28). Dreyvon Steadman, Brady Hanson, Kayden Showers and Eli Johnson were members of the sprint medley relay while Colin Johnson, Drew Temple, Isaiah Ihrig, and Jacob Snyder made up the shuttle team. The 4 x 400m relay was ran by Isaiah, Cooper, Andrew and Preston Kennedy.

This was the final regular season meet for the Jaguars as the will have competed in the class 2A state qualifying meet on Thursday, May 11th to determine state qualifiers for the state meet in Des Moines on May 18th, 19th and 20th.
