JV Boys Take Home Manson Title

   The Southeast Valley JV boys’ made it a clean sweep of the team titles at the Manson Boys’ Cougar Relays on Tuesday, April 26th. The JV scored 132 points to take the top honors. St. Edmond JV was 2nd with 117 points and Pocahontas Area was third with 99 points.

   The Jaguar throwers continue to throw well sweeping not just the top two spots in the varsity class, but taking the top two spots in the JV as well. Justin Loseke won the JV shot put with a throw of 41-08” and Nate Scott was second with a 40-00”. Nate then won the JV discus with a career best throw of 134-08” and Ethan Ackerson was second with a career best throw of 120-07”.

   Also claiming first place honors in the JV class was Dreyvon Steadman winning the 100m dash in a time of 12.31 and Asa Haub winning the 1600m run in a time of 5:26.62. The shuttle hurdle team of Jacob Snyder, Carson Joyce, Owen Steck and Isaiah Ihrig won the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:19.38.

   Grant Farnham and Carson Joyce both ran season bests times in the 800m (2:28.91) and 400m low hurdles (1:10.03) respectively to claim second place. Kyle Johnson took 4th place in the 1600m run with a season best of 5:47.59 and Isiah Ihrig 4th in the 400m low hurdles (1:11.60).  

Owen Steck and Ross Larson took 3rd and 4th in the 200m dash. Owen ran 27.43 and Ross ran 27.64. Picking up a pair of 5th place finishes were Jacob Snyder in the 110m high hurdles (20.58) and Ben Thompson in the 800m run (2:43.57).  

The sprint medley relay of Jace Nelson, Dreyvon Steadman, Ross Larson and Carson Joyce took 4th in a time of 1:51.81. Nelson, Stadman and Larson then teamed up with Michael Eslick to take 4th in the 4 x 100m relay. Also finishing 4th as a relay team were Owen Steck, Carter Ferry, Caelan Oakes-Sudhish and Grant Farnham in the 4 x 400m relay running a JV season best of 4:08.33.  

After weather postponed the final of the year for the JV, the JV will see some sparse action in the final two varsity meets of the season. “We are extremely happy with how well many of these JV runners competed this season for us. Most of their meets this year, they were competing in the varsity class and running against mostly varsity runners and were able to hold their own. We look forward to seeing how they improve in the coming years and keep the program traditionally strong,” commented Coach Nuss.
