Boys Track at Greene County Finish 4th

On Friday night, April 5th, the Southeast Valley boys’ track team competed at the Greene Co. Early Bird meet at Jefferson. The Jaguar boys finished fourth overall as a team. Perennial powerhouse Madrid won the meet with 158 points, followed by class 3A Gilbert with 149 points and Ogden with 81 points, nine ahead of the Jaguar’s 72.

Picking up a pair of gold medals in the meet was Jace Hanson. His times of 16.41 and 58.39 were good enough to win the 110m high hurdles and the 400m hurdles respectively. He was also 2nd in the 100m dash. Jace also took silver in the 100m dash running an 11.89. 

Colin Johnson took 3rd in the 400m hurdles (1:00.72) and 4th in the open 400 (55.61). Dreyvon Steadman took 6th in the 200m dash (24.55) and Aden Jepsen took 8th in the shot put with a throw of 39’ 4”.

Relays had a good night as well. The shuttle hurdle of Colin Johnson, Isaiah Ihrig, Casey Hanson and Ben Thompson finished 3rd in a season best time of 1:12.03. Taking 4th place in a time of 45.82 was the 4 x 100m quartet of Dreyvon Steadman, Brady Hanson, Kayden Showers, and Jace Hanson as well as the 4 x 400m relay team of Alex Burger, Owen Nuss, Bryce Harrison and Casey Hanson who are all freshmen. They ran 3:47.95 which is a freshmen school record.

Alex, Casey, and Bryce teamed up with Kolton Olinger to take 5th in the 4 x 200m relay, which is 1:41.91. Dreyvon, Brady and Kayden joined Logan Jaeschke in the sprint medley relay in a time of 1:43.94.

The 1600m Medley Relay (Dreyvon Steadman, Kayden Showers, Owen Nuss and Oscar Hanson) as well as the 4 x 800 relay (Drew Dorsey, Oliver Riehl, Grant Farnham and Kaden Wellman) both took 7th place. The medley ran a season best of 4:04.48 while the 4 x 800m relay finished in 10:57.22.

Logan Jaeschke ran a 24.91 (200m dash) and Oliver Riehl a 5:59.24 (1600m) for a pair of season best times on the season.

The Jaguars will compete again on Thursday, April 11th at Manson before competing in their home coed meet on Monday, April 15th in Gowrie.
