Varisty Football Finishes Season
The Southeast Valley football team finished their season at 3-5 and headed into the offseason with some work to do. The Jags started off 3-1 on the season and things were looking good but then the Jags got into the very tough part of the schedule with very very good teams and just were not good enough to get a win against the final 4 teams that we played. There were times in all 4 games where the boys could play with each of these teams but when things went bad they went bad fast. Kuemper ranked #1 the Jags were only down 7 in the second quarter before things went bad, Okoboji who was ranked 3rd the boys were up 14 and lost in overtime. Spirit Lake the boys beat 20-17 the second half but the first half was ugly. Then OABCIG was 6-0 at half and then the second half was a different story. All 4 we showed signs of being a very good team and times it looked like we were intimidated out there. The boys knew this was a very tough district and by far the toughest in class 2A but we really hurt ourselves over the last few weeks with turnovers, penalties and missed tackles and moving on to next season we will have to improve in those areas if we want better results. This District returns a lot on each team so our boys need a great offseason and we need to out work those teams if we want to be better next season. If not it will look the same next year. I'm hoping our next year's seniors become leaders and push themselves and their teammates in being dedicated and work hard so we can have a great season next year. We need everyone to buy in and it already starts Monday morning. NO BREAKS we have work to do.
