Jags Homecoming Victory

Southeast Valley football teams wins Homecoming and moves to 3-0 on the season.

This might go down as one of the biggest wins for the Jaguars over the years because of all the adversity that happened during the game but they found a way to keep fighting and pull off the victory.

The Jags started with the ball and found the endzone early but was called back on a holding call. Two plays later the Jags fumbled and Clarion recovered.

The Jags defense forced a quick punt and the Jags got the ball back but they could not find a way to move the ball either.

After Clarion drove the ball for 7 plays they were forced to punt.

The Jags came right out throwing for a 24 yard reception and the very next play threw an INT and they returned it to the 2 yard line and then scored right away and took a 7-0 lead. This was not the start we were looking for. At this point we had 3 fumbles and lost one and then the INT.

Jags got it for the 4th time and still could not move the ball.

Clarion started to move the ball to mid field but the defense stopped them again.

Finally the Jags went back to old school and went into the I formation and ran the ball 10 straight times with 9 of them from Brady Hanson who then scored from 5 yards out and he also ran in the 2 point conversion and the Jags led 8- 7 going into half.

This is when the boys found out some news and they had to decide who was going to step up. The Jags were already without one of their starting lineman for the game and got the news they had lost another for the second half and this is when kids had to step up to the plate.

Opening drive Clarion was forced to punt.

Then 2 plays later Brady Hanson had a 73 yard run for the TD and the Jags were ahead 14-7

Clarion bounced right back with a long 11 play drive and tied it up 14-14

The injuries got worse as the Jags offense lost 2 more starters and found themselves with the ball and tied 14-14. They put together a 14 play drive with 13 straight runs and then Dalton Crouse hit Jace Hanson for a 14 yard TD. This was huge and then just as big Dalton Crouse hit Andrew Miller for the 2 point conversion and the Jags led 22-14

Jags defense forced a 3 and out

3 plays later Dalton Crouse hit JAce Hanson for 81 yard TD and then led 28-14

Clarion went right down the field on a 11 play drive and made the score 28-20.

The Jags recovered the onside kick and ran the clock out for the win.

This was a huge win for the boys. They learned to come from behind tonight and learned how to win when you face adversity. The coaches could not be prouder of them. Coach wants to really let the line know they did an outstanding job playing without a couple of our key guys.

Coach Swieter also wants to thank his coaches on an outstanding night of coaching. Coach Graves had another great defensive game plan as the defense has only allowed 3 TD's all season. The other 2 came from INT's. That is great defense planning and execution. Every week he has the defense ready for the challenge.

Well, the Jags finish the non-district schedule 3-0 and will start district play against the best QB in class 2A next week down at Des Moines Christian.
