Jags Blank Poky

The Jaguar football team played their best game of the season and beat Pocahontas 36-0. This was an outstanding team effort and a big win for the boys after losing some very close games against some very good teams. The Jaguars have come up short a few times this season against ranked teams. They lost to Class 3A ranked 7th Hampton by 7, Were beating ranked 2 OABCIG at half and was also beating 7th ranked Clarion last week at half but just could not finish things the second half. That was not going to be the case in this game. The boys played hard from the start to the finish.

The opening drive the Jags went 69 yards and most of that came from Carl Berglund with 7 carries for 59 yards. The line was blocking great and Carl was running hard.

The Jags defense gave up 1 first down on Pocahontas first drive.

Jags drove the field again but could not punch it in.

Jags defense forces a 3 and out.

Jags offense runs the ball 4 plays and Cale Vansickle hits Eli Johnson for a 14 yard TD. Carl Berglund ran in the 2 point conversion and the Jags led 14-0

Jags defense forces a 3 and out.

Jags offense put together a nice long 13 play drive with runs from Carl Berglund and Drew Temple and a few short passes from Cale Vansickle to Eli Johnson Then on 4th down Cale Vansickle hit Justin Loseke for a 24 TD. Justin Loseke also ran in the 2 point conversion and the Jags led 22-0 at half.

Jags defense forces another 3 and out but then tackles the punter and gives the Jags the ball on the 11 yard line. Cale Vansickle hit Justin Loseke for an 8 yard TD and Drew Temple ran in the 2 point conversion.

The very next Play Pocahontas fumbled the ball and Cale Vansickle recovered.

Jags 4 plays later Drew Temple ran it in for a 4 yard TD and the Jags led 36-0 and never looked back.

Ross Larson had an INT the next drive and that was all she wrote for Pocahonats. Their night was over.

This was a huge night for the defense. First to have a shutout is always huge. Second they held Pocahontas to a total of 2 first downs and a total of 40 yards. The big shock of the game the the Jags defense set a new Team Game record of holding a team to -26 yards rushing. The previous record was -5 yards. This was a great accomplishment for the defense and the coaches.

It was great seeing the boys excited again getting this win.
