Junior High Baseball Opens Season
The Southeast Valley Junior High baseball teams opened up their 2025 season with four wins in two days. On June 5th, the 7th Grade Jaguars defeated Newell-Fonda 12-0, and the 8th Grade team won 10-1. The games were played in Dayton.
In the 7th Grade contest, Boe Davis pitched a full game (four innings), striking out eight Mustang batters. Davis allowed just one hit as he faced 16 total batters. Tristan Hanson opened up the game with a double, igniting the Jaguar offense. Hanson scored two runs in the game. Bennett Nolte reached base all three times up to bat, scoring three runs. Boe Davis (2), Wyatt Muench (2), Reece Carlson, Grant Ott, and Nolan Albright all scored runs in the game. Jax Hindt and Muench each had two RBI’s at the bat.
Tucker Ollinger followed Davis on the bump in the second ball game of the afternoon, matching Davis in a complete four-inning game and only allowing one hit. The one run allowed was unearned based on an error in the field. Offensively, Josiah Hefley led the offensive charge with two doubles, with 4 RBI’s while going 3-3 with the bat in his hands. Griffin Vote stepped up nicely at the bottom of the batting order, as he drived in three runs total. Ollinger (2), August Akins (2), Muench (2), Ethan Martin, Nolte, and Griffin all scored in the game.
On Friday, June 6th, the Jaguars travelled to Jefferson to play the Greene County Rams. The 8th Grade team played first, winning by the score of 11-2. Ethan Martin started out on the mound, adjusting nicely when it was needed. After finding his rhythm, he struck out 5 of the last 7 batters he faced. August Akins closed out the game on the mound with two strikeouts and a nice 1-3 put out. Carter Lloyd earned two RBI’s on the day. Scoring for the Jags were Tucker, Akins (2), Hefley, Martin (2), Bachel (2), Lloyd, Jackson Bintz, and Muench.
In the 7th grade contest, Bennett Nolte and Jax Hindt combined for a perfect game, striking out five Rams batters. Hindt also had nice plays defensively to his right on the mound, making great throws to first base. Andrew Wanat drove in two runs in the contest to lead the offensive battery. Vote also added an RBI. Wanat, Vote, Reece Carlson, and Jaxon Van Cannon all scored two runs each. Hanson, Nolte, Grant Ott, and Jaxson Johnson all scored a run.
