8th Grade Baseball Defeat N-F, MNW
The 8th Grade baseball team travelled to Newell-Fonda on Thursday, June 13th, earning a 9-2 victory over the Mustangs.
Dawson Tuel earned the win on the mound, throwing a complete game with a no hitter, and walked four batters. Tuel struck out 9 Mustang batters. Driving in runs for the Jaguars were Carver Peterson, Conner Rentz, Tuel (2 RBI), and Colton Haug. Scoring for the Jags were Carver Peterson, Landon Vote, Rentz (2), Tuel, Haug, Keelan Wellman, and Jake Paterson (2).
On Monday, June 17th, the 8th grade ball team hosted the Cougars from Manson Northwest Webster at the Southeast Valley baseball field in Dayton. The Jaguars came out swinging, scoring 10 runs in the first two innings of the ball game. In the first inning alone, SV hit for a single, a bases-clearing double, and two-RBI triple. The Jaguars won the contest 12-2 in a full 5 inning ball game.
Here are some of the offensive stats vs MNW: Carver Peterson 2-2 at bat with two singles and two runs scored; Rentz 2-3 with the bat with two singles and two runs scored; Vote two runs scored on two Base on Balls; Tuel was 3-3 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored; Haug drove in 2 RBI, Wellman with one run scored, Paterson was 1-2 with one walk and a single and an RBI; Cramer roped the triple in the bottom of the 1st inning and added 2 RBI; and Caden Milham scored twice and had one hit in the game.
Conner Rentz earned the win on the mound, striking out four batters in two innings of work. Wellman relieved Rentz in the top of the 3rd and 4th innings, striking out three and giving up zero earned runs. Milham closed out the game on the mound, pitching in the top of the 5th inning and struck out one batter. Behind the plate, Landon Vote threw out four total runners trying to advance. Vote threw out a runner stealing for 2nd base, two runners were thrown out at 3rd, and one runner was tagged out at home trying to score on a passed ball.
