JH Baseball Versus Pocahontas Area 6/14

The 7th and 8th grade baseball teams welcomed Pocahontas Area on June 14th for a mid-week matchup on the baseball diamond.

In the first contest, the 7th grade squad jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after the first inning of the game. After remaining 5-2 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Jaguars added 3 more runs before the game was over due to reaching the time limit, resulting in a 8-2 final score.

Dawson Tuel pitched another full game, striking out 8 PAC batters while not allowing an earned run in the game. Tuel allowed one hit in four innings pitched. Catching duties for the contest was Colton Haug. Offensively, the Jaguars reached base on 12 of their 21 opportunities, led by Landon Vote's double in the bottom of the first inning. Conner Rentz and Keelan Wellman both contributed with 2 RBI's. Scoring for the Jaguars were Colby Peterson, Tuel (2), Wellman, Vote, Haug, Wyatt Blair, and Caden Cramer.

In the 8th grade game, the Jags lost by the score of 12-2. The Jaguars struggled to score runs, especially with runners in scoring position. Down 2-1 in the bottom of the 1st inning, the Jaguars had runners on third and second with 1 out, and then later had the bases loaded with 2 outs and could not drive in any more runs before striking out for all three outs in the first inning. Scoring for the Jags were Casey Hanson and Kolton Ollinger. Ollinger recorded the only base hit for SV. Pitching for the Jaguars were Karson Roper (two innings), Jacob Reck (one inning) and Evan Bintz (one inning), and catching was Rafe Kilstrom.
