Boys' JH Baseball Victorious Over MNW

Both Junior High baseball teams earned home victories on the diamond on Monday, June 20.

In the 7th grade ball game, the Jaguars trailed by two after the opening half inning before scoring 4 runs in each in the 1st and 2nd innings resulting in a 8-2 win. Casey Hanson and Jacob Reck each earned a base hit and Hanson crossed home plate twice. Reck, Karson Roper, Logan Jaeschke, Spencer Peterson, Ayden Bintz and Wyatt Goodpaster also scored a run apiece. Reck got the start on the mound and pitched three full innings, striking out three Manson Cougars and only allowed 2 hits and one base on balls. Evan Birntz closed out the top of the 4th inning facing only four Manson batters, giving up only one hit and no runs scored.

In the 8th grade game, the Jaguars held on to win 8-7, with Drew Temple recording the win on the mound and Ryan Stewart securing a save. Temple struck out seven batters in three innings of work, and Stewart struck out two in his lone inning on the bump. Manson did not record a single base hit in the contest, but did find their way on base as SV walked a total of nine MNW players. Offensively, SV tallied 5 base hits in the game, led by Temple's triple in the 1st inning followed by Nick Field's double as the Jags put up five runs in the first inning. Other Jaguar players to record hits were Kayden Showers, Lincoln Akins, and Conner Brandon. Crossing the plate and adding to the run total were Akins, Showers, Colin Johnson (twice), Temple, Field, Ryan Stewart, and Dustin Nordin. The 8th graders picked up their 2nd victory of the season, splitting the season series with Manson 1-1, after falling to them by the score of 4-7 just ten days prior.
