The Jag wrestlers traveled west to Ida Grove to participate in the grueling two day Herb Irgens OABCIG tournament. At the end of the day on Saturday Jr. 120 lbs Caelan Oakes captured his first individual title at the prestigious tournament by defeating Brand Beaver of Woodbury Central 10-5. Oakes used a fluid attack on his feet and a tough ride to keep Beaver off balance to win the tough match. Four other wrestlers placed in the tournament; Sr. Harley Bryson placed sixth, Sr's Zack Miller and Mark Hughes placed 7th and Sr. Ty Klatt placed 8th. The twenty six team field places the top eight wrestlers in each weight class. Spencer Suchan, Malaki Klatt, Kaden Holder, Caleb Will, Max Miller, and Carson Suchan did not place in the tournament.    We opened up with a good first round and second round, but Saturday morning quarters were tough on us as we took some major hits and some of our guys couldn't respond in the wrestlebacks losing to some opponents we had beaten earlier. This tournament definitely tests your mental toughness as we still have to continue working on that aspect in the next two week as we prepare for our last week of our regular season and into Sectionals the following week.
