Wrestling Jan 22, 24, & 27

On Thursday, January 24th, the wrestling Jags ventured to West Bend for a second time to compete against the Warriors of Alta Aurelia, the Raiders of East Sac, and the hosts West Bend Mallard. In the opener East Sac defeated the Jaguars 45-24, Alta Aurelia downed the Jags 54-27 in the second dual and WB-M won the last dual 54-30. Grant Smith and Colin Johnson finished 3-0, Kaden Holder, Oliver Riehl, and Kyle Eastman finished 2-1. Evan Kuhn and Brodey Laughman won a match while Nevein Larson and Jayden Johnson also competed going winless on the night. In JV action Freshman Cooper Spece participated in his first taste of High School Wrestling recording a pin against his Alta Aurelia opponent. 


On Monday, January 22nd, Jag wrestlers got some much needed mat time after a couple weeks of tumultuous weather forced cancellations and no practices. The Jag wrestlers participated in the Greene County JV tournament in four man round robin format. Evan Kund placed third(1-2), Rafe Kilstrom placed third(1-2), Nevein Larson placed third(1-2), Kyeo Augustine won his bracket(3-0), Allan Summers placed fourth(0-3), Jayden Johnson placed third(1-2), Oliver Riehl placed third(1-2), Kyle Eastman placed 2nd(2-1), and Brodey Laughman won his bracket taking first. 


On Saturday, January 27th the Jags closed their regular season at the always tough 22 team field Charger Invite at Guthrie Center. The regular season struggles continued as no Jaguar wrestler placed in the top six. Evan Kuhn(113), Colin Johnson(126), Kyeo Augustine(132), Kaden Holder(138), Oliver Riehl(150), Grant Smith(157), and Brodey Laughman(165) competed in the tournament. The Jags next competition is the District wrestling tournament at Webster City on February 10th that will determine who qualifies for the State Wrestling tournament held at Wells Fargo arena.
