Jags Tune Up for Sectionals February 5th

The wrestling had their final tune up at the always tough Guthrie Center Charger Invite before post season Sectional wrestling starts next Saturday, February 5th at Humboldt. The Jags gave it a good go but came up just short once again in the tean race finishing as runner ups to the Rams of Greene County. The Rams outpaced the Jaguars with four individual champs compared to one champ for the Jags. Heavyweight Aaron Graves captured his second title in two years as he made quick work of his Nevada opponent in the finals, securing the pin in just 22 seconds. 170 pounder Zack Miller earned his first trip to the finals by tech falling his Woodward Granger opponent in the second period. Miller settled as the runner up falling to his Avoca opponent in the second period. Caelan Oakes and Rylie Ferrari placed third; Max Miller placed fourth, Mark Hughes placed fifth, and Harley Bryson 6th. Caleb Will, Carson Suchan placed in seventh place while Ty Klatt and Nathan Graves placed 8th. Kaden Holder did not place.

As a team the guys really wanted to make a run at the title. They looked good at times and other times faltered in some matches. This week in the room they really need to focus on the mental side of wrestling, working to score points and getting out from underneath.
