Jags Wrestling Opens Up Their Season

The 2021-2022 Wrestling Jags opened their season December 2, Thursday night at Panorama High School. In the first dual of the night, the Jags wrestled conference foe Manson NW, winning 51-27. Panora then tangled with the Cougars winning a close dual. In the final dual of the night, the Jags beat the Panthers 53-30. Scoring team points in a dual consists of the following: Winning by fall or forfeit receives six team points, scoring a technical fall(winning by 15 points) scores five team points, a major decision(winning by 8-14 points) scores four team points, and a decision(scoring 1-7 points) receives 3 team points. It has been a unique start of the season as we have had to piece together a starting lineup waiting for some of our wrestler/football players to return to the mat after their state championship run.

"It was good to pick up a couple of wins opening up, we as a team did some good things but there are definitely some areas to improve on; our conditioning and mat savvy have to keep getting better. We were beaten in some upper body positions getting thrown to our backs."

Opening line up for the Jags includes 106 Spencer Suchan, 113 Taelynn Slawson, 120 Caelan Oakes, 126 Kaden Holder, 132 Conner Klingson, 138 Max Miller, 145 Carson Suchan, 152 Ty Klatt, 160 Reed Andrews, 170 Harley Bryson, 182 Zack Miller, 195 Ethan Buenting, 220 Nathan Graves and 285 Ryan Wicklein. The lineup will probably change a bit as a few of the upperclassmen work their way into the lineup and guys sliding down a weight class. Taelynn Slawson, Caelan Oakes, Max Miller, Ty Klatt, Harley Bryson, and Zack Miller finished 2-0; Spencer Suchan, Kaden Holder, Reed Andrews, and Ryan Wicklein went 1-1. Conner Klingson and Nate Graves finished 0-2. In JV action Cory Fawcett went 2-0, Caden Kaltschnee 1-1, and John Klingson, Kole Sorenson, and Grant Smith went 1-0.
