Wrestling At St Ed's

On January 7th, the Jag wrestlers traveled North to St. Edmonds to participate in the six team Dual meet tournament. The Jags finished with a respectable third place finish earning dual wins over Fort Dodge JV 48-15, St. Ed's 36-31, and Roland Story 48-21. Wrestling started bright and early with defending champs Britt, West Hancock with the Eagles taking it to the Jags winning 63-12. The Jags rattled off three victories with the final dual off the day found the Jags competing for runner up honors. The Cougars experienced upperclassmen put the clamps on the Jags winning the dual 60-23 garnering runner up honors. Sophomore 113 lbs Taelynn Slawson led the Jags finishing 5-0 for the day, Senior 120 lbs Caelan Oakes-Sudhish went 4-1, Sophomore 132 lbs Caleb Will finished 3-1, Junior 126 lbs Kaden Holder, Senior 145 lbs Kyle Johnson, sophomore 170 lbs John Klingson, Junior 160 lbs Grant Smith, and Sophomore 220 lbs Nathan Graves finished 3-2 for the day. Freshman 132 lbs Oliver Riehl and Sophomore Heavyweight Ryan Wicklein won two matches and freshman 152 lbs Brodey Laughman contributed at 152 lbs. The young Jags took a small step forward today. They came out and competed a bit harder. They still lack physicality on the mat and it showed against West Hancock and AGWSR, but finishing third is something to build upon as they prepare for next week's conference tournament held at Emmetsburg.
