Jag Wrestlers Wrap Up Regular Dual Season

On February 3rd, the Jaguars wrapped up their 2022-2023 dual season at home against the Indians of Pocahontas, Titans of Graettinger-Terril, and Titans of South Central Calhoun. With the weather wreaking havoc on the season, the twice postponed duals finally happened. The Jags finished 1-2 for the night falling to Pocahontas Area 66-18 in the first dual, losing to GT-RA in the second dual 60-18, and winning an exciting dual 42-36 against South Central Calhoun. Heavyweight Ryan Wicklein put the clamps on South Central's 285 pounder to seal the victory. The Jaguars finished their dual season record at 8-19.

Senior Caelan Oakes-Sudhish hit a milestone with his 150 th career win in the final dual with South Central Calhoun. Oakes has been a stalwart in the beginning of the line up the last four years showing up ready to work every single day. The two time state qualifier will be looking to advance to his third state tournament this Saturday in a very tough Webster City District. Wrestling Starts at 10:00.

Taelynn Slawson, Kaden Holder, and Caleb Will finished 2-1 for the night; Grant Smith, John Klingson, Nate Graves, and Ryan Wicklein won a match for the Jags and Oliver Riehl, Kyle Johnson, and Brodey Laughman battled hard. Colin Johnson picked up two exciting wins in JV action.

Last night was a microcosm of our Varsity season. Many of our guys weren't quite ready for Varsity competition as they frequently get out of position getting caught on their backs. Our guys are still trying to figure out the physical aspect of wrestling, often getting turned to their backs but on the other hand they are picking up valuable experience that will propel them into next year.
