SV Boys’ Golf Competes at Sectionals, Two Jaguars Move on to Districts
Postseason golf for Class-2A schools opened up on Wednesday, May 14th. Southeast Valley, South Central Calhoun, Ogden, Panorama, Woodward-Granger, East Sac Co., Manson Northwest Webster, and Kuemper Catholic all played at Sac Country Club on a relatively warmer day. Sac Country Club is a shorter par 68 course, possessing challenging shot selections if the golfers are not careful, or too aggressive.
Southeast Valley shot a respectable team score after 18 holes, shooting 332. The 18-hole team score at Sectionals was SV’s best 18-hole round on the season. Individual scoring for the Jaguars came in as follows: Karson Roper 78, Will Comp 79, Dawson Tuel 86, Hayden Butrick 89, Hayden Greene 90, and Brady Hanson 91.
Team Results came in as follows: MNW 386, Ogden 358, East Sac 338, Woodward-Granger 333, SV’s 332, Panorama 324, SCC 316, and Kuemper Catholic 301. Panorama, SCC, and Kuemper all advanced to Districts for their top three finish, offering each team an opportunity to compete for State Golf opportunities.
With Panorama, SCC, and Kuemper advancing to Districts with the three low team scores, the lowest two scores (plus ties) individually outside the top three teams also move on to compete at the next stage of postseason golf. After a tightly contested reading of scorecards, SV’s Karson Roper and Will Comp both earned their shot at Districts. There were several 80s and 81s posted by other non-qualifying teams.
Congratulations to both Roper and Comp on earning their chance at extra postseason play. Districts will be played on Monday, May 19th at Carroll National.
